For Episode 73, it is our pleasure to welcome to the show Del Wilkes, better known to many pro wrestling fans as The Patriot. Del spent about 45 minutes with us and we ended up with a powerful interview that is a testament to the power of the human spirit. In this interview, we discuss the DVD chronicling Del’s remarkable life, “Behind The Mask.” We also talk about Del’s college and pro football career as well as his incredible pro wrestling career. Del wrestled everywhere including the AWA, Global Wrestling Federation, All-Japan Pro Wrestling, WCW, and WWF. He worked for Verne Gagne, Eric Bischoff and Vince McMahon. We discuss Del’s tremendous career with him. But we also talk about his addiction to pain medication and his remarkable redemption as he was saved from that life by God, friends, and family. Del offers up some advice for not just young and aspiring pro wrestlers, but for anyone out there struggling with any sort of addiction.
