Episode 159 recaps events in WWE for the week of January 9, 2017 and also reviews what many are calling the greatest match of all-time.

On Raw, Seth Rollins battled Braun Strowman. Shawn Michaels returned to Raw and let Rusev know what Sweet Chin Music really feels like. Sheamus took on Luke Gallows while Bayley and Sasha Banks teamed up to go against the Raw Women’s Champion, Charlotte and Nia Jax. Mick Foley’s job as Raw GM was pretty much on the line if he could not produce The Undertaker. Did The Dead Man show up? In the Main Event, Roman Reigns defended the United States Championship in a 2 on 1 Handicap match against Chris Jericho and the Universal Champion, Kevin Owens. On Smackdown Live, Dolph Ziggler took on Kalisto in a match that answered all questions about Dolph’s heel turn. Nikki Bella and Natalya continued to amp up the intensity in their very personal war. American Alpha defended the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships in a title rematch against The Wyatt Family. Could The Wyatt’s recapture the gold? In the Main Event, Baron Corbin took on John Cena. On 205 Live, the love triangle between Cedric Alexander, Noam Dar, and Alicia Fox took a very strange twist. Who came out on top? Brian Kendrick tangled with Sean Malutta while Jack Gallagher and Daivari agreed upon a rather interesting match stipulation. The Cruiserweight Champion, Rich Swan, took on Tony Neese, looking to prove a point to the self-professed King of the Cruiserweights, Neville, along the way. On NXT, three women combined to do some serious damage to the NXT Women’s Champion, Asuka. Andrade “Cien” Almas faced off against Onely Lorcan in a rematch of their encounter in Osaka. In the Main Event, DIY defended the NXT Tag Team Championship against the former champs, The Revival. With the history of great matches between these two teams, this match did not disappoint. Who prevailed to earn the right to defend those titles against The Authors of Pain at NXT Takeover: San Antonio? We let you know on Episode 159.

Many people are calling the Main Event of Wrestle Kingdom 11, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship match between the challenger, Kenny Omega, and the Champion, Kazuchika Okada, the greatest match of all-time. AXS TV is showing the bulk of Wrestle Kingdom 11 on Friday evenings for the next few weeks and they started off by showing this match.
