The Big Five Project returns as we bring 1996 to an epic conclusion. Before we get there though, Rey Cash joins Dave and PC Tunney to take a look at the full card for WrestleMania 42, coming up in just a few days. What matches are we excited about and what are we unsure of? From there it is on to Survivor Series ’96. The final PPV of 1996 delivered on many fronts. Emanating from Madison Square Garden, this event stood on the precipice of the emergence of the Attitude Era and the crowd in New York City truly let Vince McMahon know what was working and what was not. On this memorable night, we saw Undertaker and Mankind end their storied rivalry, for a little while anyway. On the other hand, Bret “The Hitman” Hart and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin were just beginning their rivalry. Speaking of beginnings, Survivor Series ’96 saw the debut of an electrifying future champion and icon in Rocky Maivia, the man we would all come to know as The Rock in just a couple of years. In the Main Event though, the NYC crowd would memorably turn against the WWF Champion, Shawn Michaels, would align themselves with Sycho Sid, and history was made. The Attitude Era is nearly here and Survivor Series’ 96 caught a lot of what would make the next few years in WWE, in the eyes of many, the greatest in the history of the industry! Are you ready for a wild ride? Tune in for this latest installment of the Big Five Project!
