Raw-and-Smackdown-1

Episode 129 takes a look back at a huge week in the WWE that saw the crowning of a new WWE Universal Champion.

We kick things off by reviewing Monday Night Raw from August 29, 2016. Raw saw Bayley team up with The New Day to take on Gallows & Anderson along with their tag team partner, Dana Brooke. With the WWE Women’s Champion, Charlotte, on commentary, which team came out on top? Sheamus and Cesaro met up in Match 2 of their best of seven series. Could Cesaro even things up or would Sheamus take a commanding 2-0 series lead? But, Raw was really all about the Fatal Four Way Elimination match for the Universal Championship between Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens and Big Cass. By now, the world knows that Kevin Owens, with a huge assist from Triple H, won the title. On Episode 129, we spend a good amount of time trying to answer the two most important questions that came out of Raw, especially as far as the COO is concerned: Why and what now?

We then switch over to Smackdown Live to see what was happening on the Blue Brand. The Tag Team Title tournament continued on as The Hype Bros took on The Vaudevillains in one match. In the other match, The Headbangers returned to WWE after a 16 year absence to take on the new team of Heath Slater and Rhyno. Could Heath keep his hopes for a Smackdown Live contract alive? AJ Styles went one on one with Apollo Crews while The Miz got into a war of words with Dolph Ziggler. Bray Wyatt challenged Randy Orton to a match at Backlash and in the Main Event, Baron Corbin challenged Dean Ambrose, with AJ Styles on commentary. We also discuss Daniel Bryan’s comments on Talking Smack in relation to last week’s explosive exchange with The Miz.

We then go Back To The Frontlines of the Monday Night War for the first time in quite a while as we look at Nitro v. Raw from November 13, 1995. On Nitro, Hulk Hogan continued to dabble with the Dark Side, Eddie Guerrero took on Johnny B. Badd for the Television Title, “Macho Man” Randy Savage battled Meng,  and Sting went one on one with Dean Malenko. Meanwhile, over on Raw, Bet “Hitman” Hart and Diesel discussed their upcoming WWF Championship match at Survivor Series ’95. In the Main Event, Razor Ramon took on Psycho Sid with the 1-2-3 Kid as the special referee. With concerns swirling that The Kid might be in the back packet of The Million Dollar Man, Gorilla Monsoon decided the match would not be for the Intercontinental Championship. Were Monsoon and Ramon’s worst fears realized? We let you in on all the details here on Episode 129.
