Episode 5 of Season 3 of House of the Dragon had a whole lot going on. And, for the most part, they pulled it all off quite well. There is tension building between Daemon and Rhaenyra. Meanwhile, Aemond, with the help of Alys, is recovering his strength and confidence at Harrenhall. Ditto for Aegon, whose worldview is significantly challenged by Larys. Add in Sir Criston Cole accepting his fate, Alicent and Haelena attempting to escape, Ormund Hightower grooming Daeron to be a true challenger for the throne, and a shockingly gruesome discovery at the end of the episode, and what you have here is more classic Game of Thrones intrigue and storytelling.
